Mobile phones are expected to outnumber desktop computers this year. Furthermore, 95% of mobile phone users have their phones within reach at all times. We use them in front of the television, at work, and even on the toilet. Many companies will find themselves in peril - Especially considering that mobile phones now account for two-thirds of all local searches. 

 

Making that phone ring necessitates the use of an effective mobile web design. No one wants to be forced to squeeze and scroll their way through your website after it takes along time to load.

Because the sheer volume of web traffic was exclusively desktop users, most web designs had a set size that they would automatically comply with desktop screens until recently. It made viewing on a mobile device difficult. Users had to zoom in to click on a link, scroll all the way around the page to view and read anything, and load times were exceedingly long due to the slow connectivity.

 

Creating distinct mobile iterations of the web portal while preserving the desktop version was the short-term option at the time. Mobile-friendly websites were developed off of the main domain to distinguish themselves from the desktop version, several of which began with "m." It often resulted in extra confusion because browsers weren't always capable of detecting devices and would drive mobile phone users to the desktop version and vice - versa. 

 

Some website designers even went so far as to design their sites exclusively for mobile devices at the time, a move that was received with a great deal of dissatisfaction and complaints.

 

As luck would have it, mobile traffic began to spike, necessitating the creation of responsive web design. In a study published on alistapart.com in 2010, Ethan Marcotte came up with the term, and predicted that mobile surfing would over take desktop browsing in 3 to 5 years- and it surely did in 2015!

There's a reason you and other business owners have invested in your front end. You've spent on nice clothing, new signs, and a current website to make the best first impressions on your consumers. 

 

A mobile site is similar in that it demonstrates that you "get it," that your site is current and ready to assist your clients. It reflects your skill level in your field. When you have a mobile-friendly website, it not only implies that your site is up to date, but it also means that your practices or equipment are up to date, that you have extensive knowledge and competence, and that you will perform the best work for them.

It's critical to be able to share content, links, photographs, or anything else on the internet, and being able to do it quickly is even more important. Even if your content or promotion is so good that no one in their right mind would pass it up, you may still be overlooked if your site isn't mobile-friendly due to the inability to distribute it quickly. 

 

Whether it's the cumbersome functionality of moving from a desktop to a mobile interface when users click "share" or not being able to find the "share" button at all if you don't have a mobile responsive site, your social activity and capacity to go viral will suffer.

Mobile First perspective 

 

Google has effectively altered how it patrols the internet: mobile sites are indexed first, followed by desktop sites. It can cause major problems for websites that have both a mobile and a desktop version, especially if the two versions are not identical. It's possible that it'll be even worse on PCs.

 

SEO's Worth 

 

Having a fast, mobile-responsive website will increase your Google rankings — the end of the story. Google has indicated that they will favor mobile-friendly and mobile-responsive sites over desktop-only sites since the algorithm adjustment April 2015 and will adjust the ranks to show the mobile sites first. 

 

Google strives to provide the best experience for its consumers, and mobile responsiveness allows them to do that – which is why they prefer mobile-friendly sites to desktop sites. This, too, will cause you to fall behind your competitors' ranks, resulting in a loss of potential business.

 

Google AdWords

 

Paid search now prioritizes mobile as well, in addition to how Google has adjusted organic ranks. They prefer bids and advertising for mobile-friendly sites in addition to meeting Google's requirements for excellent quality scores. If you're using AdWords, you could be wasting money, and your site isn't mobile-friendly.
